SCALE PREVENTION
AQUAFOS prevents scale formation as it uses the phenomenon that minute concentrations of certain polyphosphates are sufficient to inhibit the deposit of scale onto metallic surfaces. The precipitated calcium carbonate crystals absorb some of the polyphosphate liberated by the AQUAFOS which hinders their aggregation to form scale.
CORROSION
Corrosion is prevented by the presence of phosphates and silicates which form a very thin protective film on the metal surfaces which, whilst protecting the metal, does not impede or reduce heat transfer. A concentration of 3 โ 5 ppm (mg/litre) of AQUAFOS is sufficient to prevent both scale and corrosion.
SCALE REMOVAL
Whilst the main purpose of AQUAFOS is to PREVENT scale formation it has been found that the continuous use of AQUAFOS will, over a 9-to-12-month period, remove existing scale deposits. This removal is influenced by the age and composition of the scale. PLEASE NOTE:1mm of scale on a heating coil or geyser element will increase the electricity costs by 15%.ย
