A coupler insert (sometimes called a “nipple” in quick-connect systems) is the male half of a quick-disconnect (QD) or quick‑coupling system.
“3/8 Male” typically refers to a 3/8″ threaded male connection — the insert screws into a mating part (or system) via those threads. For example, GAV’s 3/8″ male coupler insert uses 3/8″ BSP screw thread.

These inserts are designed to mate with a female quick coupler — when the male is pushed into the female, a valve in the coupler opens, allowing fluid (air, gas, sometimes liquid) to flow; when disconnected, the valve closes to stop flow.
